Forged stainless clad SG2 powder metal with damascus finished hammer and western style stabilized maple burl wood handle. SG2 takes a very fine edge easily for a stainless steel of its hardness (63/64) and holds it nicely.
These have a very distinctive octagonal shaped hammer head Nigara, the quality for the grinds and finish is also excellent.
Nigara Hamono in Hirosaki City in Aomori Prefecture is a 350 year old metalworking company with sword making roots, blacksmith Go Yoshizawa has expanded Nigara's range to include kitchen knives.
