Our Bernal Cutlery House Hojicha Loose Leaf Tea is made from leaves grown in Uji, Kyoto, and specifically selected by an experienced chashi (tea artisan).
Uji is a region of historical significance and tea excellence, producing some of the finest green teas in the world. The Uji tea industry is a beautiful blend of age-old tradition and innovative cultivation techniques.
Hojicha is distinctive in flavor and appearance from other Japanese green teas such as sencha and matcha, as it is made from roasting green tea leaves. Hojicha is a rich and deeply aromatic tea that has a beautiful reddish-brown color. The high heat of the roasting process reduces the tea's caffeine content, and therefore hojicha is often enjoyed at dinner time or afterwards to aid in digestion. The flavor profile is often described as nutty with a hint of sweetness, and has less of the astringency or bitterness that is often a hallmark of the other Japanese green teas.
Recently hojicha has gained international popularity, especially as flavoring for desserts or for making lattes (which may we say our powder hojicha is a better fit for!)
The tea is sealed inside an aluminum bag inside a tin that can be reused.
150g of loose leaf tea.
Dimensions of the tin 170mm height and 264mm diameter.
Ingredients: Green tea
