Rubberized cork strop charged with Monodiachrome for deburring excessively wear resistant steel.
14" x 3" x 1/4”
Monodiachrome is an abrasive rich submicron to several micron monocrystalline diamond blend and sub micron to several micron Japanese chromium oxide in a water based biodegradable paste that is ideal for deburring excessively wear resistant ‘super steels’. Monodiachrome has a much more aggressive cutting ability than chromium oxide on its own. With approx. 12 carats per oz, this is the most abrasive heavy diamond compound we have found, yet still creates fine polished edges thanks the presence of chromium oxide.
This compound quickly deburrs and polishes excessively wear resistant steel ground with a coarse or finer finish. It doesn't over polish coarse finishes and is also capable of deburring finer finishes without rounding or leaving a ‘washed out’ cutting feel. It is not suitable for creating very fine finishes.
This cork strop is our shop favorite for deburring in tandem with a paste compound. It successfully de-burrs and enhances the finished polish; finely honing the work of the fine synthetic or natural stones. It is a very dense composite, approximately 15 to 20x more dense than a regular cork pushpin board.
Since this strop is made from rubberized cork, it can be cleaned with soap and water to remove compound or other kitchen debris. Lifespan of charge will vary depending on volume and intensity of work (estimated 40-60 stroppings). New compound should be reapplied once the bare cork reemerges on the majority of the strop.
When used with paste compounds, let the compound fully dry before stropping. A small amount should be spread thinly over the strop and cover most of the strop face; re-apply a smaller amount over spent abrasive, a little goes a long way!
