French butcher cleaver with forged carbon steel blade, brass ferrule and turned wood handle with tang and washer at butt. The style of manufacture looks very pre-war / turn of the century although it could possibly be a bit older.
Blade had seen some rust and errant grinding but nothing terribly abusive, handle is nice and secure even with the small crack.
A handsome old cleaver that still has some work left in it with fresh sharp convex edge.
6x4" blade 3/16" thick
11 75" overall length
17.5 oz
