Borachrome* is a abrasive rich boron carbide and Japanese chromium oxide in a water based biodegradable paste that is ideal for deburring coarse finished knives that are not excessively wear resistant ‘super steels’. We have found this compound to be great for a wide variety of steels finished from 1000 to 6000 grit (JIS Japanese grit scale), it leaves the character of the finishing stone but can leave small visible scratches on very fine grit polishes, 6000 and up, the coarsest particles are approximately 4000 grit. Excellent for deburring western stainless steel with a 1000 grit finish.
Borachrome deburring and polishing compound is made with a proprietary mix of chromium oxide and boron carbide at roughly 15,000 to 4000 grit in a water based paste with the majority of the product being abrasive. The boron carbide in Borachrome has a much more aggressive cutting ability than chromium oxide on it’s own, yet still creates fine finish edges with the presence of chromium oxide.
