Hitohira Kikuchiyo Kyuzo 150mm Petty Iron Clad Shirogami 2 Oct Cherry / Ebony

Very lightly used trade in, used only several times. Hand made in Sakai, rustic kurouchi finished iron clad shirogami 2 carbon steel forged for Hitohira’s Kikuchiyo series and expertly ground by Kyuzo, a sharpener that is very well regarded for his wide double bevel work.

These have an etched kurouchi over a ground face making for more evenness in the face of the blade, the kurouchi will wear off with use eventually.

This treatment of shirogami 2 carbon steel is very easy to sharpen and has good edge life for a steel not usually considered a long lived edge steel (for Japanese steels).

Extra care is required to avoid rust and it is important to not cut hard items or scrape the blade as the steel is very hard.
