Early Stainless knife from J. A. Henckels, marked "Nicht Rostend," and likely pre-1930s Friodur. The pinned wood handle suggests early 20th-century manufacture, as does the JA Henckels Solingen Zwilingswerk mark.

This would have been made for household use as a larger multipurpose knife before chef knives were widely adopted in Northern Europe for home use, this and especially a small paring knife would have been the backbone of knife kit.

Blade was sharpened a little and has been thinned behind it a little; it is back to its original thinness, but originally it was a few mm wider.  The handle is in great shape having seen no cracking or gaps, pins are tight and the wood (ebonized fruitwood?) is in great shape, an uncommon but not super glamorous knife.
