Interesting knife from HY Kaufmann, best known for the pressed steel framed locking folding knife that they sold from the 20s to current times from the Otter Brand of Solingen after Kaufmann's decline in the 1990s.
This knife is unusual not just in being of a brand not usually associated with chef knives, but also the combination of the rounded handle under the bolster that is usually associated with post WW2 Solingen knives, and the large disc pin and disc rivets which are typically earlier.
The knife blade is full, very little sharpening has been done on it, has seen some rust, leaving some fine pits, and there is a glued crack on the walnut or fruit wood handle, which has seen some wear and a little shrinking, the rivets are solid and secure.
