Marks lost, East Coast version of a San Francisco-style "California carver" with an 8" offset blade and a hump on the spine, most likely made after the immense popularity of San Francisco-made knives and style knives in the 1870s, after the transcontinental railroad allowed for travel to the West Coast.

This style was made by Eastern manufacturers at a lower quality and price point than the SF-made ones; they remained popular until about 1900.
