Kan Nihonichi 200mm Pruning Shear Forged Carbon Steel

Kan Nihonichi shears and pruners are forged in Yamagata City Japan which has become a small manufacturing hub for garden and agricultural tools. 

These are forged from a single billet of Hitachi YCS3 steel, a carbon tool steel with a little over 1% carbon that can be hardened to support a fine finish and still maintain a decent degree of toughness. The blades are hand ground and finally hand sharpened to a fine finish to provide for smooth cutting. 

Because these are made with harder steel than some commonly found non-Japanese shears and pruners care must be taken not to twist or pry during cutting or use them on anything beside plant materials. 

These are not stainless, avoid rust by cleaning and oiling after use, the steel will change color with use but active rust should be removed.
