Clip Point Blade Shape

A clip point blade is defined by the spine’s distinctive “clipped” section—either straight or lightly concave—which thins the tip and gives the knife a high degree of control. This profile offers a long, workable cutting edge and a fine point that’s easy to aim, making it a versatile shape across everyday carry, outdoor use, and general utility. In pocket knives, the clip point excels at detail work and quick, precise cuts, delivering a familiar, easy-to-handle feel that’s been a standard in American and European folders for generations.

On fixed blades, the clip point tends to be more pronounced, sometimes finished with a false edge to improve penetration. This gives the blade a bit more reach and authority without losing the maneuverability that defines the shape. From classic Bowies to modern hunting and field knives, the clip point remains popular because it strikes a reliable balance: precise tip work when you need it, solid slicing performance when you don’t, and a profile that feels immediately intuitive in the hand.

Fine Finish Axe

A fine finishing range of approximately 2000–6000 grit, producing a highly keen, low-roughness edge. The refined surface reduces friction at the wood–steel interface while allowing the edge to cleanly sever fibers rather than crush or tear them. This combination of reduced resistance and controlled fiber fracture enables the edge and axe head to pass more efficiently into the cut, improving penetration, control, and edge stability. Best suited for axes that cut across the grain rather than split along it, including felling, brush clearing, and especially carving.
