Vintage J A Henckels carbon steel cleaver made in Soilngen Germany likely from the 1900 to 1920s judging from handle materials and construction.
The hand forged hand ground blade has not been abused or imporoperly sharpened, it has some pits from past rust but is still fairly full not having been sharpened heavily. The rosewood handle is pinned with old style nickel and mild steel or pin and disc rivets, it is secure and no discs are missing but there are a number of cracks. Its not too common to find these handles from my experience
Blade has a fresh convex edge and is ready to get to work.
7"+ cutting edge, 3" at widest point, 12.25" long overall and is 16.59 oz
