Proprietary stainless core with suminagashi damascus cladding and black patina with a one-piece khii rosewood handle from Sakai Konosuke. From a collection purchased at Bernal Cutlery between 2013 and 2017, in unused condition with original box. Handle is of recent manufacture fit at Bernal Cutlery.

Konosuke, a Sakai-based company, works with top-skilled blacksmiths from all over Japan to create unique, top-quality kitchen cutlery. Konosuke’s knives spare no attention to detail, from the heat treatment and grinds to the packaging. Their focus is on knives forged in their hometown of Sakai City, where the Kawamura family and parent company, Kaneshige, have operated for many generations, but have also begun working with smiths from Sanjo. We are always happy to stock a new batch of knives from Konosuke, and finding old ones unused is a real bonus.
