Handmade theater knife style (knives named for being made in the theater of war, typically in the metal shops of battleships in the Pacific in WW2) heavy butcher cleaver with carbon steel blade, steel bolsters and pins, and mid-century brick red paper micarta.
Micarta was commonly used on theater knives, as it was an available material used especially for airplane parts in WWII. Similar to today's Richlite, paper micarta is made with plastic resins and paper pulp.
