Nakagawa Hamono
Satoshi Nakagawa is a talented blacksmith from Sakai who worked under Kenichi Shiraki at Shiraki Hamono for many years up until Shiraki-san's retirement at which point Shiraki Hamono became Nakagawa Hamono, a big seal of approval from one of Sakai's greats.
Nakagawa-san's knives are characterized by excellent heat control during forging and a very thorough heat treatment creating knives that have superb edge formation and edge life with good toughness. Each steel has it's own personality of course but his carbon steels are usually easy to sharpen. Nakagawa-san is one of several blacksmiths in Sakai to forge ginsanko and VG10 stainless steels which have excellent edge life and toughness.
