A traditional Japanese condiment made from green onion (negi) and miso, can be used to accompany proteins or vegetables, or as a "rice condiment"- to put on top of your rice so you can eat bowls and bowls of delicious rice.
There is in fact a phrase in Japanese for rice condiments, "Gohan no Otomo"- literally means "your rice's companion."
Try it on a bowl of steaming rice, use in dips, or to pair with chicken, beef, pork or fish.
