Knife dates from 1909 to 1950 Landers Frary & Clark made by the Landers Frary and Clark company in New Britain Ct. under their Universal brand.
This knife was originally a bit larger (11") and was thick behind the edge so we thinned the sides to bring it back to its original thickness. It feels lively and light in hand and will cut very smoothly.
Handle has a few cracks on the right hand inside, but is still solid and secure, it has been reconditioned with some walnut oil. With fresh sharp edge
Their square shaped tang and deep ground bolsters are very characteristic of LF&C and have a great feel when doing a pinch grip.
At one point LF&C was one of the largest knife making outfits in the USA and was a huge kitchen equipment maker as well, their hand ground hand forged after drop forged kitchen knives were made for professional use and were of excellent quality.
Edge 10 1/2” 1 7/8” wide at heel 15 7/8” overall length 6.5 oz
