A beautiful and functional wooden container made from kiri (paulownia), that is designed specifically for storing dry rice. Comes with a wooden gou measuring cup (the Japanese measurement of rice) that magnetically attaches to the underside of the lid.

Kiri bakos have been used to store valuable things in Japan for over a thousand years, used for sorting a variety of things such as tea ceremony and Buddhism tools, armor and other family heirlooms, kimonos and ceramics. They are excellent for storing dried pantry items such as rice and tea due to their ability to repel insects, moisture and mold.

Made to hold 3kg of dried rice.

When cleaning dry wipe only.

Once every 6 months or so, you can release any moisture trapped in the kiribox by putting it in a well ventilated place out of direct sunlight for half a day.

While you can store things outside of rice such as coffee beans or bread, strong smells can be absorbed into the wood.
