Josh Donald has been fooling around with knives since he found an old pen-knife at the age of five. This persistent interest blossomed over the years, and Josh and his wife Kelly Kozak founded Bernal Cutlery in San Francisco, CA in 2005. While Bernal Cutlery began as a sharpening service in the laundry room of Josh and Kelly’s old Bernal Heights apartment, it has since grown into a vast culinary emporium with the help of a great crew, many of whom have been with the company for over 10 years. In 2018, Josh published his first book: SHARP, which looks at the history of culinary knives in Europe, the United States, and Japan, as well as sharpening and knife skills with local chefs and members of the Bernal Cutlery crew.
