New Old Stock Sabatier La Trompette / Trumpet 9" Slicer Canadian Pattern Carbon Ebony Thiers

Unused pristine Sabatier La Trompette / Trumpet brand 9" slicer in the Canadian pattern with carbon steel blade and ebony handled with large brass rivets. 

This knife was hand forged after being drop forged and then hand ground to finish. It represents the last era of this brand that started in the early 19th century in Thiers and was an important maker and exporter of French knives in the 19th century. 

This knife owes its form to older 19th century style in both design and in production, the blade surface shows that it was ground on a large wheel and the dramatic taper from the bolster along the tang and blade, the smaller ebony handle is also very old style. Very nice to find one in this pristine condition. 

Blade is 9" and overall is 13.5"
