J A Henckels 9” carving knife and fork stainless and stag. Blade has the US patent no for the ‘Granton’ hollow ground face.

Blade is still full although it has been sharpened just enough to start grinding into the Granton hollows on the sides, blade and tines are nice and straight although the fork has a little wiggle to the handle and the knife is missing it’s nickel buttcap.

The very similar Granton and Kullenschliff dimpled grinds were both patented in 1928 in the UK and the Granton patented in the US in 1931. This grind became popular initially on knives for meat but it has become used more broadly especially as convex hand ground blades were displaced but flat sided blades that didn’t offer the same food release.
