J. A. Henckels chef knife from the later but not last era of carbon steel knives made in Solingen in the 1960s. This knife was drop forged and hand ground but with no hand forging as seen by the straight and not tapered tang and slightly thicker tip half of blade. Additionally suggesting 1960s manufacture are the narrow bolsters without a thicker base at tang and nickel rivets rather than the later 1970s aluminum.

This knife has been lightly cleaned and sharpened, it did not warrant thinning as the edge has not become too thick. The bevels are a little irregular as the face of the blade is irregular, blade is straight for utility standards but does have a very very slight wavyness. The walnut handle is in nice condition with no cracks or heavy shrinkage.

10 1/4" cutting edge, 1 7/8" wide at heel 15 1/4" overall length 7.89 oz
