Extra coarse 220 grit Arato Kun stone cuts very quickly and is great for repairing chips, re-profiling and thinning. Although the abrasive particles are not as hard as diamond, this stone works faster than coarser diamond stones in our experience as the density of abrasive is greater.
It must be noted that one should use this stone away from finer stones, or thoroughly clear the 220 grit from work area after use. This is advised to avoid contaminating finer stones with aggressive grit, which can result in scratching or even chipping your sharpening edge.
