Finely made Guyonneau flexible office knife made in Chatellerault France from approximately 1900 to 1930s. Blade is hand forged after drop forged and hand ground, the ebony handle sports an old pre WW2 style brazed nickel ferrule. A less commonly found size here.

Chatellerault had been a weapons and knife making town for many hundreds of years with its peak in the 19th and early 20th century. Like Thiers it had made small home based operations forging, grinding etc. as well as some larger cutlery factories including some large bladed weapon manufacturers which influenced some designs made in Chatellerault especially with folding knives. Big French Navajas and switchblades were made in Chatellerault but also culinary cutlery like this Guyonneau.

It had been sharpened in enough that the edge was starting to get thick so it has been thinned and re-ground here in the old style, leaving a thin convex face. There are a few remaining pits from some previous rust.
