Vintage J A Henckels carbon steel cleaver made in Soilngen Germany likely from the 1920s to 30s judging from handle materials and construction.
The hand forged hand ground blade has definitly been used and was sloppily sharpened at one point leaving some grinder fugs on the side. The beeck handle is pinned with old style nickel and mild steel or pin and disc rivets, there is a tiny bit of wiggle on it but it is secure and no discs are missing. Its not too common to find these handles.
Blade has a fresh convex edge and is ready to get to work.
6"+ cutting edge, just shy of 3" at widest point, 11" long overall and is 16.5 oz
