Abram Brooksbank Malinda Works, Sheffield (1849-1932) carving set made approximately around 1900-1920 (possibly earlier, the 'Defiance' with canon marks did not change much) with carbon steel blade, tines and honing rod with rolled nickel ferrules and carved stag handles, in original fitted box.
This set is a little hard to date but the box clasp and ferrule suggest late 19th early 20th century. The marks did not change much and did not add 'England' after 1891 as stainless knives without it can be found with this mark. The blade was done with the old Sheffield style forge laminated steel (shear steel ?) and iron bolster with 'puddle weld' at bolster opposite markings.
A handsome old set barely used, the blade had some rust but had not been sharpened in much, being that it needed cleaning a new edge was added but it is in its original footprint. The box is a little rough as it had been worn during storage and such but the set is in great shape.
Absolutely no dishwasher and no soaking, hand wash only unless you are a bad person.
