A premium one here. This one earns all the medals and ribbons it wears in its not typically found stamps. Super fast cutting, fine finishing and easy to use for a hard stone, definitely a standout stone. A hair softer than the last Awasedo marked stone that we had recently

純 pure, 優良品 excellent product, 正本山 true honyama , 正本山合感 true honyama agreed
Sho Honyama Awasedo guarantees it is an extra fine cutting stone capable of fine finishing, not every stone earns the official stamp of 'Awasedo' although it is generally used for extra fine natural and synthetic stones, with natural stones it denotes an extra high quality and evenness of grit without inclusions.
Shoubudani: A ‘Higashi-mono’ (Eastern Mine Stone), Shoubudani is well known for producing a wide range of stones with different hardness and fineness. The Shoubudani mine produces some of the higher quality natural whetstones that are akin to Nakayama mine stones in their beautiful finish.
Karasu:
Meaning 'crow' this is a patch of tiny black marks similar to goma but smaller, can speed cutting sometimes.
Asagi:
This aesthetic term refers to the general color of the stone. Typically, Asagi stones are grey, light blue, greyish-blue/green, and tan. They are usually quite clean stones that are on the harder side. However, softer Asagi stones are great for knife polishing.
