In 1907 Shigekazu Sakurai, the first generation of Moki, began manufacturing knives. Then, in 1941 during World War II, while companies involved in the knife industry began producing knives for soldiers (such as military swords), Shigekazu continued to focus on producing knives to be used as tools rather than as weapons. During the postwar period of chaos, Shigekazu and his eldest son, Shigeki, started full-scale knife manufacturing and established Sakurai Knife Factory. By the mid-1950s, The company expanded rapidly and produced pocket knives for trade with the United States and many European countries.

In 1987 as part of a corporate strategy to increase the company's value and social responsibility, the company name was changed from Sakurai Knife Manufacturing to Moki Knife Co., Ltd. In 2017, Moki celebrated their 110th anniversary, and today they continue hone their technical expertise and capabilities.

These knives have a delicate finish and precise fit making them a high-quality product, preserving and improving upon traditional designs.
