Sleek, modern, and fast. Inspired by the symmetry and circular pommel of traditional daggers, we're driving into flippers once again with a compact and fidgety new addition in the 491 Lowden™. Featuring our AXIS® Lock flipper mechanism for a smooth, snappy deployment, the 491GY-01 wields an M390 spear-point blade with a gray Cerakote® finish built for a fine, long-lasting edge. Outfitted with fiery Phoenix Red anodized aluminum handle scales which offer a palm-filling grip, along with a new deep-carry pocket clip and FDE accents, the Lowden™ is an ultra-modern flipper built for performance and style.

Spear Point Blade Shape

A spear point blade centers its tip along the knife’s axis, created by symmetrical or near-symmetrical top and bottom profiles. This produces a highly controllable tip with balanced piercing and slicing capability. Spear points appear in both double-edge and single-edge designs and are appreciated for their versatility and clean, neutral geometry.

Medium - Western Stainless

We recommend hand sharpening on whetstones to a low-medium finish starting around 400 and progressing to 1000 grit with a monodiachrome strop finish. Gentle use with steel honing rods work well for as-needed edge maintenance. Avoid pull-through sharpeners and non-water-cooled mechanized sharpening. If you have to use a honing rod to be able to use the knife comfortably, it's time to sharpen the knife.

CPM‑20CV (analogous to M390/204P) is a PM stainless optimized for high wear and corrosion resistance. Commonly ~60–62 HRC, it holds a long‑lasting edge with fine carbide distribution for good stability. Sharpening is slower than simpler steels but rewards with excellent all‑around premium performance.
