Netherton Foundry 13" Spun Iron Wok Lid with Oak Knob

Made in Shropshire, England

A useful addition to Netherton Foundry 13" Spun Iron Wok.  Reliable for steaming and preventing splashing.  As these are hand formed and not 100% round, achieving a sealed style lid is not possible.

Dimensions:

Weight 1.00kg, Diameter 12 inches (30.5cm) to fit a 13 inch wok.

The casserole is a durable 99.1% pure spun iron pan and lid with sturdy riveted handles. The pan bodies are spun by hand, so each one is slightly different. Perfect for range stoves, open fires, wood burning and gas ovens, grills, electric, gas, ceramic, halogen & induction stovetops.

Pre-seasoned with flax oil for a natural non-stick finish and ready to use; this lid doesn't have a chemical or PTFE coating. Similarly to cast iron, your patina and seasoning will build with time and can be restored time and time again at home.

They are suitable for high temperatures and browning, but please heat up slowly at first to maintain shape. Do not drop hot pans or lids into cold water; this will cause them to warp. These pans and lids are not stainless and should cleaned and dried appropriately; do not put in the dishwasher.

To keep it as flat as you can, then follow these simple guidelines.

Every time you use the pan, heat it SLOWLY to frying temperature, then you can use full power.

This is especially important if you are using powerful cooking burners such as induction.

Use a burner the same size as the pan base, as small rings WILL warp big pans
If your pan has oak handles, the grain on every piece is unique and each one is branded by hand.

They are like fingerprints, no two are identical.

Netherton Foundry is a family owned business located in South Shropshire. They sit right in the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, and have been inspired by the 18th and 19th centuries' Shropshire Iron masters, especially Abraham Darby.

Netherton Foundry has been designing cooking products for over three decades. Over the years, they have become more and more interested in the provenance of the materials they use. Their objective is to build quality products made from materials principally sourced in Shropshire and its neighboring counties. They are committed to reducing our impact on this fragile planet by building products that will last, from materials they trust.
