Made for the Orpheé brand by a Thiers manufacturer, likely between the 1930s and 60s, based on the materials and design on the stamp. Blade has some shallow pits but is otherwise nice and full and the grooved turned hardwood handle is in great shape as well. 

Butcher's Leaf, also called a Swiss Leaf, is a large, thin-bladed cleaver that is used to finish cuts where joints need separation. It can work at bones with force but is not designed to chop through heavy bones.
