Designed to remove the bone from a ham without opening up the entire thigh, it's offset gouge shape is designed to be able to ride along the length of the bone up to the ball joint separating it ahead of use with a boning knife.
It's half birdseye rivets suggest 1950s or 60s at the latest. Its in great condition showing very little wear if any. Handle shows a tiny bit of shrinkage which is not uncommon for a handle of it's age.
