Yu Kurosaki 180mm Bunka VG XEOS Gekko Walnut Handle

Forged by Yu Kurosaki in Takefu Japan. Yu Kurosaki is a relatively young blacksmith working out of Takefu Japan, he began smithing in 2002 and apprenticed under Hiroshi Kato. Kurosaki-san incorporates many of his own designs utilizing new steels as well as working in more traditional materials. 

VG XEOS Is a new stainless steel from Takefu Specialty Steel that is designed to have both high corrosion resistance and maintain a good toughness at high hardnesses. We have not found it difficult to sharpen compared to other Japanese stainless steels and our initial tests point to nice edge life and edge formation from this steel.
