Windmühlenmesser 1922 Series

The Windmühlenmesser 1922 Series knives were made to commemorate the 140th year anniversary at Windmühlenmesser and are identical to the original craftsmanship in 1922 - the "Golden Times".

These knives are die-forged with a small, classic bolster, dry fine-ground, and blue glazed by hand. Made with high-grade carbon steel, they have a hardness of 60 HRC and are handled with walnut wood, hand-shaped and sanded. They each come with a small bottle of holzpflege (wood care) oil for maintenance.

Robert Herder Windmühlenmesser knives are made in Solingen, Germany, and are still made utilizing old hand-work techniques. Their fine, hand-ground blades offer a great cutting feel. Ground lightweight and thin, the slight convexity on the faces of the blades makes for reduced friction and sticking during cutting.

Windmühlenmesser has worked hard to establish an extensive apprenticeship program at their workshop, preserving old techniques that have nearly disappeared from Solingen.
