Friedr Herder Old Pattern & Boscher

These knives from Friedr Herder are made using traditional patterns, in carbon and stainless steel, some dating back to the Medieval era.

Friedr Herder Abr Sohn Company is the longest continuously operating knife making operation in Solingen, Germany. Its famous Pikas spade logo was registered in 1727 although their place in Solingen’s blade making history traces further back. Friedr Herder has kept many old patterns in production and offers a variety of new production knives for professionals and home cooks.

We are happy to include Friedr Herder in our lineup, they are one of the few Solingen makers that do all forging, grinding, handling, and finish work in their own Solingen workshops. Friedr Herder utilizes state of the art equipment alongside old machinery and skilled hand work. While many well-known Solingen knife companies have outsourced production or skipped important processes to boost production, Friedr Herder has remained dedicated to preserving Solingen's famous high-quality standards, integrating skilled hand work and industrial savvy.
