Assorted Aiiwatani 400-440 Grams Wide Faced Thin Tennen Toishi Honyama Natural Finishing Stone

Wide faced but thin, these will need a base added to them but they provide a large sharpening surface and have many years of life in them if treated properly. Minimum length 145mm and minimum width 75mm.

Koppa are small sized or oddly shaped stones that are cut from the same stock and preform the same as larger more regularly shaped premium stones but are far less expensive. These prices are lower than usual as they are not individually graded, they are all good for knives mostly in the LV 3.5-4 range of hardness and fineness.  All have sides covered by cashew lacquer to help prevent de-lamination, that said do not soak.

Aiiwatani:

A ‘Higashi-Mono’ (Eastern Mine) whetstone that is close in proximity to Takashima and Wakasa, two mines known for their high density stones.

Shoubudani:

A ‘Higashi-mono’ (Eastern Mine Stone), The Shoubudani mine produces some of the higher quality natural whetstones that are akin to Nakayama mine stones in their beautiful finish.
