Hard, fine and fussy. Not an easy stone but with the right technique a mirror with contrast finish can be worked. Stone benefits from nagura and a pasty slurry with light presssure and small strokes. Lots of water and pressure are a no-go for knives here, but can be used for ura or microbevel when appropriate, this stone should make an excellent razor stone as well.

There are some tight cracks on the back of the stone, they may or may not require repair in the future, a hard spot has been picked from the face of the stone as well, priced accordingly. Do not soak.

Sides have cashew lacquer.

Asagi:

This aesthetic term refers to the general color of the stone. Typically, Asagi stones are grey, light blue, greyish-blue/green, and tan. They are usually quite clean stones that are on the harder side. However, softer Asagi stones are great for knife polishing.

Kan:

This term refers to ‘rings’ or darker lines streaming through the stone. Typically seen on harder dense stones
