One of Bernal Cutlery’s favorite quick triage for non-serious cuts, Yunnan Baiyao, is a hemostatic powdered medicine famous for being carried by the Vietcong to stop bleeding during the Vietnam War. Yunnan Baiyao was developed by Qu Huangzhang in 1902 in China, its reputation is equal to that of penicillin in the U.S. We have found that it speeds healing while slows down bleeding. Here at Bernal Cutlery, we’ve had great success when we pack some powder into a cut after wound cleaning and then bandage appropriately.
