Rubberized cork strop charged with Borachrome compound for deburring knives finished under 2000-4000

Excellent for deburring western stainless steel with a 1000 grit finish or for more stubborn alloys that are difficult to deburr with a finer finishing chromium oxide. The addition of boron carbide gives this deburring compound extra cutting power without losing the deburring ability of chromium oxide.

13" x 3" x 5/16” - 33x75x8mm

Borachrome deburring and polishing compound is made with a proprietary mix of chromium oxide and boron carbide at roughly 15,000 to 4000 grit in a water based paste with the majority of the product being abrasives. The boron carbide in Borachrome has a much more aggressive cutting ability than chromium oxide on its own, yet still creates fine finish edges with the presence of chromium oxide.

This cork strop is our shop favorite for deburring in tandem with a paste compound. It successfully de-burrs and enhances the finished polish; finely honing the work of the fine synthetic or natural stones. It is a very dense composite, approximately 15 to 20x more dense than a regular cork pushpin board.

Since this strop is made from rubberized cork, it can be cleaned with soap and water to remove compound or other kitchen debris. Lifespan of charge will vary depending on volume and intensity of work (estimated 40-60 stroppings). New compound should be reapplied once the bare cork reemerges on the majority of the strop.

When used with paste compounds, let the compound fully dry before stropping. A small amount should be spread thinly over the strop and cover most of the strop face; re-apply a smaller amount over spent abrasive, a little goes a long way!
