Beautiful hand ground carbon steel and mother of pearl fork and knife set, blade is marked Fein Stahl Solingen; (Fine Steel Solingen) which doesn't outwardly tell us much. Judging from the lack of the word 'Germany' this suggests either pre-WW1 manufacture or that it was made for sale in Germany before stainless steel became the norm for table wear.
These are drop forged and hand ground with a nickel plating and beautiful mother of pearl hafts. The blade had a little active rust and scratches from cleaning and has had the face re-surfaced.
The blade is in the Buckels style, an old German knife style that was used both as a table knife and as a small utility knife cutting cheese, cured meats, bread and butter.
Knife is 9.25" with a 5.25" blade, fork is 8.15"
