Foster Bros Fulton Brand 1107 Heavy 7" Cleaver Custom Ebony Handle 2.3lbs

Vintage heavy 7"  Foster Bros carbon steel cleaver with custom Macassar ebony handle. Blade is in good shape, certainly saw some use including blows to the spine but is otherwise in great working order with a fresh whetstone finished slightly convex edge. 

Foster Bros operated out of Fulton NY, cleavers like this were made for the US military during WW2 and also into the 1950’s. 

The 1107 refers to the steel type and carbon content. The first 2 numbers (11..) refer to plain carbon steel and ..07 referrs to .7% carbon content. 

Not sure who did the ebony handle (it came in as a trade in) but the work is very nice.
