Vintage J A Henckels carbon steel cleaver made in Soilngen Germany likely in the 1950s judging from handle materials and construction. 

The hand forged hand ground blade is very full and despite some rust when it was found is in great condition. The one piece walnut handle is smooth and comfortable, there is a small crack on the inside otherwise it is nice and secure. 

Blade has a fresh convex edge and is ready to get to work. 

8"+ cutting edge, 5 1/2" at widest point, 14 1/2" long overall and is 36.17 oz
