Antique Lamson & Goodnow Nogent style 10.25" chef knife with carbon steel blade, nickel ferrule and one piece (walnut?) handle from around the turn of the century. The American take on a French icon here.
This knife has been sharpened in a bit and the handle has a crack and can wiggle/click a tiny bit if worked. It is a relic from the high point of late 19th century / early 20th century American knife making which boasted fine precise hand forging and grinding and excellent finish work and fitting. Too bad the condition isn't better on this one but they turn up very infrequently so its still very interesting to reference the design and feel of none the less. Blade is straight with fresh edge.
10.25" cutting edge (orig 10.5"?) 15.25" overall 5.6 oz
