Bernal Cutlery Resale Program

1. Overview

Our resale program offers makers, collectors, enthusiasts and estates the opportunity to showcase rare and/or high-value cutlery through a trusted and professional retail platform. We specialize in premium cutlery and tools and bring decades of experience, a discerning customer base, and a deep respect for craftsmanship.

This program replaces our established Trade-In Program by offering flexible compensation & resale options: sell outright with direct payment, trade-in for store credit, or consign to reach full market value, payable in cash or store credit.

We’re here to help you choose the path that best fits your goals.

2. Eligible Items

We accept the following items for consideration:

  • Custom or limited-edition cutlery, including but not limited to kitchen knives, utility knives (fixed and folding), collectable pocket knives, tableware, and some tools.
  • High-quality production knives in good condition with public demand and resale market value.
  • Historically significant or rare vintage cutlery as described above.

Knives must be authentic, in good condition, and approved for resale under applicable laws.

3. Ineligible Items

We do not accept the following items for consideration:

  • Swords, daggers, or other edged tools designed primarily as weapons.
  • Items unrelated to culinary, utility, or collectible use (e.g., fantasy blades, cosplay props, some tools).
  • Items with questionable provenance or authenticity.

We reserve the right to refuse any item for any reason at our discretion. Exceptions may be made based on the historical or collectible merit of the item, also decided at our discretion.

4. Compensation Options

We offer multiple ways to get value for your knives:

  • Direct Sale: Quick, direct purchase at a fair resale value offer.*
  • Trade-in for Store Credit: Often higher value than a cash sale.
  • Consignment: Reach top market value through professional and reputable retail exposure and marketing without the burden of self-listing. Payable direct or through store credit with 10% bonus.

Initial shipping, restoration and authentication services can be facilitated by us and subsequent costs can be paid up-front or be deducted from final compensation.

*Please note: Cash and trade-in credit offers are based on the resale value of the item and reflect the need for us to maintain a margin to support the sustainability of this program and our business operations. We aim to offer fair, market-informed values while ensuring the on-going ability to promote, sell, and stand behind every knife we accept.

We’ll help you determine the best fit based on your knife, your timeline, and your goals.

5. Evaluation & Intake

  • Submit photos and details: maker, materials, year, condition, provenance, etc.
  • We assess item desirability, condition, and market value, as well as ascertain desired compensation method.
  • Final resale option and pricing is discussed, based on comps, current demand and our professional market knowledge.*
  • Upon acceptance, the seller will turn in the item and the appropriate compensation will be allocated. If the item is eligible for consignment, a consignment agreement must be signed prior to listing.

*We reserve the right to deny intake based on unwavering customer preference for certain compensation options in certain circumstances. Items that don’t meet quality, condition, demand, or legal standards, before or after being received by us can be denied. Compensation for shipping costs on items that are denied due to misrepresentation will not be afforded.

Eligibility and acceptance may be dependent on additional services which are subject to additional fees (e.g., cosmetic restoration).

6. Listing & Promotion

  • Professional photography and product description.
  • Promotion via our newsletter, social media, in-store displays, and/or online collection pages.
  • Displayed securely in-store (if applicable) and online for maximum exposure.
  • All listing photography and written descriptions created for consigned items remain the property of Bernal Cutlery and may be used in future promotional material.

  • Listing Duration: 90-days minimum
  • Price Adjustment:  Pricing adjustments can be made after the item is listed and will be agreed upon by both buyer and seller prior to making an adjustment.

Trade-in credit issued 1-3 business days  after receipt and confirmation of the item. Direct payouts can be issued via PayPal or check. In-person cash payouts are possible depending on the amount of the payment.
  • Unsold Items: May be returned or re-listed upon mutual agreement. Re-listing subject to fees as described below.
  • Early Withdrawal: Items removed before the 90-day period may be subject to a fair and reasonable fee depending on the value of the item and will be determined by us at the time of withdrawal.
