Gifu Prefecture
Known as the “City of Blades,” Seki City in Gifu Prefecture has been a renowned center of blade-making for over 700 years. What began with samurai swordsmithing evolved into a tradition of high-performance kitchen knives, where traditional forging meets modern steel innovation. Today, Seki’s makers continue to craft stainless steel knives known for their clean performance, easy care, and enduring edge retention — trusted by both professionals and home cooks.
But Gifu’s legacy of craftsmanship goes beyond steel. This region is also home to Mino-yaki, a 1,300-year-old tradition of ceramic making. Our collection includes hand-thrown KYOTOH ceramic donabes, crafted in Gifu’s rich clay and prized for their far-infrared heat properties — allowing food to cook to its core while retaining juiciness and texture.
This collection celebrates the spirit of Gifu: heritage-driven, utility-minded, and beautifully made. Whether you’re drawn to the precision of a Seki-forged knife or the earthy warmth of a Mino-yaki donabe, these pieces are built for use, and made to last.
